Evan Cheng, Character Designer from lynda.com on Vimeo.
Meet Evan Cheng a character designer for Sesame Workshop he talks about how characters are simplely made up of lines and how you use these lines help give them weight. The depth of this action helps emphasis the back history of your character to the audience before they even hear it. As a designer for Sesame Workshop, he gets to refine and reimagine an iconic group of creatures: characters like Big Bird, Bert and Ernie, and Oscar the Grouch. In his spare time, he creates custom designs and products for his own line, 2Bs. But he didn't always have this much creative freedom. As he explains in this short film, it was the work on 30s, his 30-minute alternative takes on the Sesame line, and on a cartoon alter ego.

An comic/manga artist who is producing his own comic "Apple Black" this is his take on creating characters.
Apple Black
BLESSED BY “MERLIN” (AKA THE GOD OF SORCERY) WITH THE ARODIHS ARM, SANO, A YOUNG SORCERER RAISED AND TRAINED IN ISOLATION AND SECRECY, HAS NOW BEEN RELEASED INTO THE EDEN CONTINENT FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF BRINGING FORTH TRUE PEACE AND HARMONY.
WHEN HIS FELLOW GIFTED ALLIES AND SORCERERS ACCOMPANY SANO ON HIS QUEST, SANO LEARNS THAT TREACHERY, BETRAYAL AND EVIL HAVE PLAGUED NEARLY EVERYONE WITHIN EDEN. HAUNTED BY NIGHTMARES OF BOTH THE MURDER OF HIS FATHER AND THE DECIMATION OF HIS OWN TRIBE, SANO WILL NOT REST UNTIL THE MYSTERY OF THESE TRAGEDIES ARE RESOLVED.
RIDDING EDEN OF EVIL WILL REQUIRE HIM TO LEARN THE SECRETS BEHIND HIS FATHER'S RESEARCH ON THE IMMENSE SOURCE OF POWER THAT IS “APPLE BLACK”.
